Elder Nominations

Partners of Mission Church have the privilege and responsibility to nominate new elder candidates each year. This is a vital ministry of our church, and receiving nominations from the body is a very important part of the process.

We invite you to prayerfully consider who you might nominate for the role of Lay Elder, keeping in mind that they should meet the biblical qualifications of an elder found in 1 Timothy 3Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-7. The scriptural qualifications include the following:

  • Male
  • Above reproach
  • Faithful to his wife
  • Temperate
  • Self-controlled
  • Respectable
  • Hospitable
  • Able to teach
  • Not given to drunkeness
  • Not violent
  • Gentle
  • Not quarrelsome
  • Not a lover of money
  • Manages his own family well
  • Not a new believer
  • A good reputation

The men in this role serve as humble servant leaders who lead, feed, and protect our people. The elders, under God’s authority and His leadership, also have the responsibility for the final decisions concerning the overall direction, discipline, and doctrine of our church.

Please submit your nomination below. Please note that we have greatly simplified the nomination form this year. Your nominee will be evaluated by the current Elder Board in light of biblical qualifications and the practical needs of our church. Upon this initial screening, if appropriate, the team will follow up with further vetting of the candidate through an application process, reference checks, personal interviews, and a great deal of prayer. We ask that you keep your nomination intentions confidential in order to protect the unity of our body.
